I'm Addicted!

Ever since I've started blogging I've become addicted! I love seeing whats going on in my friends lives, it's like I'm finally connected again. I felt so out of touch with everything and everyone for the longest time. I guess it didn't help living in Germany for a couple of years, you lose whats even going on in the U.S. I just hope that I can keep in touch with everyone from now on.

Mike and I will probably never live in one place for more than a couple of years until he retires. It's been really hard to make friends, I think I've put up a wall. I used to be so good at making friends and now I suck at it. Ever since I got married I crawled into my shell and don't want to come out. It's just hard for me to open up and trust people when I know I wont be around them long. I know I need to change my attitude and let go of that cause I'm probably hurting myself more than anything.

I don't have any hobbies right now so I decided I need to find one, something cool and fun that I would enjoy. I hate scrapbooking thanks to good ole Nauvoo, and I like crafts but I cant really do them much cause of Kadee. I love reading but I always end up neglecting my family cause I cant ever put the book down. I NEED SUGGESTIONS!!!! If anyone has any ideas for me please let me know, I'm desperate for something to do.

Hey Jess! I love your little blog! The pictures of you and the girls are so cute. As for hobbies... I can see you are quite bored. In the past few years I have picked up gardening. It is actually really fun to plant, water, and watch flowers grow. (at least I kinda like it!) I also got a sewing machine a few years ago and it is really pretty fun. Quilting is pretty fun and if you have room for it, it is pretty easy to pick up and put down as you go so you don't neglect your family... although, it is like reading and you don't want to leave it. Anyway... those are the only hobbies I can think of that I like to do on the side- that you didn't mention. And, you should open up and make some friends. It IS hard to do, I've never been good at it, but it makes like SOOO much better to have friends to share things with. It's hard knowing you'll have to leave them in a year or so though.

I grew up in the coast guard and we moved all the time. I became really shy through it all, but as I got older I realized that, especially in the military, the people around you probably need friends just as much as you do. You might not make life long friends, but at least you may get a few play dates, or game nights out of it. Plus, your children will learn to make friends through your example.
As for hobbies, I also like to sew and I like to cook new things (or bake). Our ward is doing a lot with food storage lately, last month was 'bean' month and I found a great recipe called garbanzo cake, it's a cake made out of garbanzo beans and not flour (I know this sounds gross, but even my neighbor who doesn't like to try new food liked it.) Right now we are trying to find a great puto (a filipino steamed muffin) recipe.

Wow Jess! I was so suprised to get your comment! I can't believe how long it's been!!! I can't believe what a cute family you have. I had no idea you had two kids! Isn't blogging great! I'm way addicted to. I'm always checking it and seeing what everyone else is up to. It makes me feel like I have friends again. I understand how lonely it can get. We just moved to Reno and I know absolutely no one. I was spoiled at BYU-I and now I have to learn how to be outgoing agian. As for hobbies you'd never believe some of the things I've started doing! Crocheting, quilting, sewing, cooking, and even painting those wooden board sign things. Crazy! I've always been craft retarted (I still am I just ignore it now)It's crazy what kids and mommyness will drive you to. Anyway this is long enough. I'm so excited that we can keep in touch now!

Hey girlfriend, I just read on Andrea's blog that you will be in Oregon this summer and that Mike will be at Fort Lewis. Well Fort Lewis is only about 20-30 minutes from my house so if you come up to visit you have a place to stay. I can even babysit if you can have a date night. Email me @
rmalloy88@yahoo.com. I'd love to exchange phone numbers. Love ya

Yo yo!! I love your blog...it is addicting, isn't it?? I need to check in on your blog more often though.

So I was reading your part about the hobbies and it reminded me of General Conference and Elder Ballard's talk. Here we have a general authority telling us young mothers to do what it takes to replenish ourselves. So I think taking a bath, or finding a way to take an hour or two to yourself once or twice a week and just do what you enjoy doing counts. Also, I've heard that taking a cake decorating class at the local Hobby Lobby is mucho fun!! And then the whole family can enjoy it later. And since it's summer, if you wanted to do something during the day, I would ask the YW Pres. in your ward or stake and say you have a service opportunity for a YW to pass off her personal progress.

But I have taken up painting during naptimes, and making hairbows, and after Leah comes I will be more aggressive in taking care of the weeds in our yard and making our yard more beautiful. And I love going to furniture stores and "testing" the massage chairs! You've got to rotate the stores if you do that though! Check out your Enrichment groups too. Sometimes they have fun ideas or if there is someone you would like to get to know, you can join a group they are in.
